Victoria's Secret beauty Candice Swanepoel on perfume, babies and model behaviour

The new mum is the face of Juicy Couture's sugary scent, so we caught up with her on all things sweet

Have you ever wondered how supermodels prepare for Valentine's Day ? Well, you'll be pleased to know it's pretty much the same as we do – with as minimal effort as possible! Candice Swanepoel , 28, is a Victoria's Secret model and recently a new mum to baby boy Anacã – so she's a little bit pushed for time these days.

She's also the face of Juicy Couture's new Viva La Juicy perfume – a sweet smelling scent that's come out just in time for Valentine's Day.

She took a break from being generally fabulous to have a chat with us about babies, beauty and everything in between...

The new fragrance is very sweet! Is that what you look for in a perfume?
I like to mix up my perfumes a lot but I'm loving this one. It's almost edible, it smells so good. It's perfect for a girl who’s' fun, who likes to go out and go on dates. The notes are a mixture of floral and sweet.
Do you think you can tell something about a woman by her perfume?
I do. Fragrance can be an extension of your personality - like clothes. Thats why I say it's fun to mix it up. Smells can bring back memories, and it's always nice to leave your mark for people to remember.
So you like sweet smells, does that mean you have a sweet tooth too?
I do! I definitely do. Especially after my pregnancy. The shoot for Juicy was full of cakes and cupcakes so it was fun! I never used to have a sweet tooth but during my pregnancy it changed and now I have a major one. Living is Brazil is so hard because they make so many delicious desserts. Everything with caramel and coconut cream in it, so it's hard to resist. They eat it for breakfast here! It's totally okay.
What's your typical morning beauty routine?
I love to have a sun kissed glow, even if I haven't got a tan. I use a bit of bronzer - and a highlighter is always really nice. I keep it simple but I can't go without a mascara and a lip-to-cheek tint.
And for a date night?
I don't think it's good to wear too much make-up on date night. It's best to be as close to yourself as possible!
Has your beauty routine changed since having a baby?
Before baby - probably 20 minutes, and now with baby I have to be quick – 10 or 15 minutes!
Is it tricky to squeeze in your workouts now too?
I have to use my time more wisely, I suppose. It's important for me to make time for myself as well. The workouts have changed because I can't do anything too high impact. I do a lot of resistance and muscle training. I used to work out more in the evening but now more in the morning because at the end of the day I'm just too tired.
Do you and the other Victoria's Secret models ever share beauty secrets?
Occasionally, yes. But it's not one of our first conversations! Casually I'll say like: 'what are you using in your hair?', but we generally get a lot of tips from make-up artists, and we work with similar ones so we always have similar products.
Give us your best beauty advice so we can look like supermodels too!
Good advice is to really find what tones match your skin and your hair colour and to work with that - because some people use the wrong colours for their skin tone.
